A sitemap is a file (sitemap.xml) that lists all the important pages of your website. It helps search engines like Google understand your website structure and index your pages faster, which improves your website’s visibility in search results.
Step-by-Step Process to Add a Sitemap
Step 1: Generate Sitemap
- Go to a sitemap generator like XML Sitemaps Generator
- Enter your website URL
- Click on Start or Generate Sitemap
- Wait for the tool to complete the process
Step 2: Copy Sitemap Code
- After generation, open the sitemap
- Copy the full XML code of the sitemap
Step 3: Login to Admin Panel
- Open your website’s admin dashboard
- Enter your login credentials
Step 4: Go to Page Management
- Navigate to the Page Management section
- Click on Add New Page
Step 5: Add Basic Details
- In the Title field, type: sitemap.xml
- The slug will automatically be set as sitemap.xml
Step 6: Paste Sitemap Code
- In the Description section
- Click on the “Source” option in CKEditor
- Paste the copied sitemap XML code
Step 7: Save the Page
- Click on Submit or Save
- Your sitemap will be created successfully
Step 8: Check Your Sitemap
- Open your browser and visit: https://yourwebsiteurl/sitemap.xml
You can also submit your sitemap in Google Search Console to improve indexing and track performance.
