redBus is an Indian online bus consolidator, which provides bus ticket booking service through its web and mobile application. It was founded in 2006. redBus is Headquartered in Bengaluru, India. It has its presence in India, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Colombia and Peru. It serves over 5 million customers globally with 10,000+ buses on 60,000+ routes. redBus was founded by Phanindra Sama, Sudhakar Pasupunuri and Charan Padmaraju in 2006. They are engineers from the BITS (Birla Institute of Technology and Science). After having worked for different companies, they later on started their own startup redBus. The initial investment was of only INR 5,00,000 and later with funding. They went on tying up with various travel agents for seat booking through the redBus portal.
redBus is a subsidiary of Ibibo Group. In 2013 Ibibo group acquired redBus. It is also a part of India’s leading online travel management company MakeMyTrip Limited. It has its own cloud computing service for bus operators called BOGDS. They also have a GDS for bus inventory distribution called SeatSeller. They also provide a SeatSeller API for bus booking portal/ agents to fetch inventory. SeatSeller is a hotel booking and bus reservation platform for travel agents.
